I dropped my 1200 GS on a steep loose rock slope. I'm 70 and as I was falling I thought "This is going to hurt, I wonder if I'm gonna break anything, I'm miles from nowwhere in Mexico" and then there was a pop and I landed, and - nothing hurt! My heart rate did not even go up. It could have been serious, and instead it was the modest cost of a new cylinder. My Turtle Vest paid for itself in .3 seconds.

Truly a motorcyclist's lifesaver
This vest is truly a motorcyclist's lifesaver. I have the Helite Turtle 2 mechanical vest. I prefer the mechanical as compared to the electronic one to avoid the hassle of charging. With the mechanical vest you do have to remember to tether it every time. After the first couple of times it becomes a habit similar to buckling your helmet. In terms of sizing the size chart on the website worked well for me. I am a size large in most motorcycle jackets and the same worked well for the Helite vest. Recently I was involved in a low speed drop on my VStrom, the vest inflated before I hit the ground and definitely saved my head from flopping about like a rag doll. It deflated in under 60 secs after which I dusted myself off and was able to walk to the side of the road. If you are on the fence of getting the vest I would say it has the same function and protection as wearing a seat belt in the car as it is to a motorcycle. 100% recommended.

Great!
This is one of those products you hope you never have to use. However, if in the case you do have to use it, you want to make sure it works. Ultimately, this is a simple system which means less opportunity to go wrong. My safety is important to me so I've tested these cartridges twice on my own to see how they work. I can say that each time they worked flawlessly and am very happy with how quickly the jacket inflates.

What can I say?
It's hard to give a review without ever having used the product (I hope I never have to!). But I can say the shipping was very fast (I live in Los Angeles). The product feels properly heavy and fits in the extra pocket in my Helite Turtle 2 vest. If I can keep the rubber parts on the ground and shiny parts up, I will never come back to this site to change my review! :P Cheers! Happy riding!
