Good for me, doesn't fit my wife
I contacted the company and got good advice on sizing, which led to me getting one that fit great. I'm pretty happy with wearing it, although it does block quite a bit of wind (and reflective parts on the back of my jacket). Plugging it in to the bike is fine, but it is something else to remember. It might be easier to remember turning it on right when I put it on, which is usually inside. If I did it again, I might go for the electronic trigger.
My wife wanted to get one, but as a short/petite & busty woman, there is no size that fits her correctly. -
Helite Turtle 2 effectiveness
I had a wreck and this thing saved my life and my spine 2 months ago. I initially bought it to protect my neck since I have three vertebrae fused there.
The airbag deployed instantly. It inflated against the bottom of my full face helmet, forming a decent C collar. It protected my neck perfectly.
The crash was at a high rate of speed. Even though the airbag deployed and it has a thick CE approved armor back plate, I still fractured the spinous processes of three thoracic vertebrae and three posterior ribs.
Even though it airbag deployed to protect my chest, I fractured six ribs and my sternum.
Without the vest, my neck would have broke along with my back and most of my ribs. It saved my life! I'm still not in any shape to ride yet, but as soon as I can, I'm getting another one (The vest was cut off by EMS). -
Helite protection
For a size reference or comparison, I am 5’10 and weigh 150 lbs. I measured myself according to the size chart here and my recommended sizes were between a L and XL. I went with a large which is a perfect fit over my normal riding jacket. It’s not tight or too loose. So far I’ve forgot to unclip it twice before I got off my bike which I’m happy to say it didn’t go off on me. Overall I do feel much more protected. Great product.

Necessary
As a firefighter I've seen what a bad motorcycle accident will do to a human body. I now ride with an helite airbag to improve my chances in an accident. Looks like a normal riding vest in terms of fashion when riding

Turtle 2 vest
This is the 3rd Helite airbag I’ve purchased in the last few months, along with the leather jacket and the HMoov backpack. All have been impressive. They are very well made, easy to use, easy to reset if activated, and all of them can potential save you from some terrible injuries.
The vest runs similar in size to your everyday jacket: I wear a large jacket and the large vest fits just fine. I prefer the simple, mechanical activation of this vest. If you are concerned about your safety, get an airbag. It’s cheap insurance against some really nasty injuries, not the least of which is broken ribs.
No, you do not have to worry about forgetting to unplug it and accidentally setting it off if you get off your bike: it takes 60+ pounds of force to active the airbag. -
Helite Turtle2 Airbag Vest
While I hope to never review the actual function of this product, what I got was a very well build device that appears ready for the road. Size it by length (cover them hips) as the fasteners on the front have a very wide range of adjustment.
In a perfect world everyone would wear one of these and nobody would ever need to use it, but for our reality it is inexpensive protection compared to the potential costs of injury. -
Loved it
1st air bag investment. Made the right choice for this purchase. I prefer this compared to the electronic ones.

Quality, peace of mind, & stylish
Arrived quickly. Well packaged. Less bulky than expected. Comfortable and doesn’t ride up on my neck. You forget it is on once riding. The vest provides me with an added sense of safety. And oddly, it doesn’t look uncool.
I see very few compromises with this vest. My main concern is storage during the warmer months when I would want to take it off when walking around. The back protector is stiff and it is too long for my top or side cases. -
A no brainer for anyone who rides motorcycles
I get it, wearing gear sucks, especially in the summer. It’s hot and cumbersome. However, this product can very easily save your life. By inflating, it not only has the capability to absorb impact force (which is 50 times more effective than dispersion, which most standard back protectors and armors do) but most importantly, it immobilizes your helmet and prevents both whiplash and hangman’s fracture, the fracture of your neck vertebrae which is the single leading cause of motorcycle deaths. The tethered system has no battery to die or gyroscope to fail on you. Spend the $700 and wear it over your existing gear, and odds are, it will prevent you from having a VERY fucked up day.

Well worth the money
I love it. It fits well and does not constrict. The vest does block some airflow to the torso, so hot days are a little less comfortable. I will take the reduced airflow for the increased protection. I have been considering getting one for a few months. As soon as I heard about Youtuber Shadetree Surgeon's friend Abel sustaining compound fractures of his ribs after a tire blowout, I donated to his GoFundMe hospital bill, then ordered the Turtle 2 vest.

Lowside-Tested, Worked Wonderfully
Had my first real accident *ever* today, lowsided on a surface street at 30-40 mph, landed my right side before sliding out into the road & came to a stop along with my bike without colliding with anything.
My tether was anchored beneath my seat with just enough slack to stand on the pegs if needed, so I think my vest inflated as I was going down or just before I hit the road. I barely felt anything in terms of impact with the road despite landing squarely on my right side. It also seemed to help stabilize my neck, because there wasn't a single scratch on my helmet, so it did an great job of minimizing whiplash in the neck region (and saved me the cost of replacing my helmet!). I did still manage to bruise my hip a bit, but the vest extends far enough that I think it helped with that too (along with my riding pants which have hip protectors).
The vest also took most of the abrasion from sliding rather than my riding jacket (in the hip/torso area, anyway). I used to dislike how long the vest is, but after going down I'm happy that it extends so far. The vest material held up quite well, and while the Helite tag was slightly ripped off, the vest was only slightly worn (just ordered my replacement CO2 canisters).
Overall, an easy 5-star rating from me. I credit this vest for making my first real crash pretty harmless overall, and reinforced my decision to wear it even for just going around town/surface streets. If anything, I'm MORE confident in the performance of this vest now. Great product!! -
